Jesse W. Bowman

I have been in love with the moving image my entire life. I began making videos in high school: short science-fiction films featuring Tupperware flying saucers and exploding Matchbox cars. 

 

In 1999, I received a scholarship to Elon University, where I studied film-making and television production. Within weeks of arriving on campus I secured a paying job in the video editing lab. I was promoted to Edit Lab Manager my sophomore year and remained in the position until graduation. I also served as president of the Cinelon Film Society for two years.

After graduation, I moved to Wilmington, NC and worked on several independent film projects. Through the contacts I made in the industry, I found a job in the Promotions Department of the market leading TV station, WECT.

As a marketing professional for over 15 years, I have worked on innumerable image, branding, and targeted campaigns. I have written, directed, produced and edited spots for almost every news franchise and entertainment program promoted by WECT.

As social media became more prominent, I helped manage WECT's online presence. I created posts for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, analyzed viewer engagement, and promoted the station's digital platforms on-air.

I am also an avid photographer and have used this talent to record events and create marketing materials for local non-profits: including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Bow Wow Luau and Cat's Meow, the Domestic Violence Shelter and Services Fashion Show, Salty Paws, and the North Carolina Black Film Festival.
